Jewellery care

At House of Anasa we use 18k gold plated stainless steel jewellery for the majority of our products. We may also use other metals for certain designs. All materials are listed on the product page of each item.

All metals will tarnish over time, some quicker than others. But to ensure your jewellery has a long life span follow these tips:

  • Make sure to remove your jewellery before showering, swimming or exercising
  • Keep jewellery away from perfumes, creams and sprays. Make sure that creams are fully absorbed into the skin before putting on your jewellery
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals to clean your jewellery
  • we recommend cleaning your jewellery with a soft cloth
  • Store your jewellery in your HOA box or pouch

Materials

Brass

Brass is usually made up of zinc and copper, which means it naturally tarnishes over time and is not a manufacturing fault. Brass is not hypoallergenic, so people with sensitive skin should refrain from wearing brass and opt for our stainless steel or sterling silver jewellery.

Make sure that you are not allergic to this material before purchasing. It is not our responsibility to refund or exchange items if you develop a reaction.

Gold plated

Gold plated is the process of depositing a thin layer of gold onto the surface base metal such as brass or stainless steel.

 Stainless steel

Stainless steel is a highly durable metal. It is hypoallergenic, meaning it's safe for sensitive skin. It is resistant to rust, discolouration and oxidisation. This metal is also water resistant. This is our choice of material for the majority of our pieces for these reasons.

Although stainless steel is hardwearing, it's still important to follow our jewellery care tips to ensure a long life span.

 Sterling silver

Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Fine silver by itself is too soft to make most jewellery, so copper is added to make it more durable. Sterling silver can be sensitive to tarnishing. Be sure to follow our jewellery care tips.
